“The real problem with not having internet access and LiveJournal specifically...is that I can't vent. I really have nobody to talk to here and I just cos know. Even if I could talk to anybody here, I wouldn't be able to tell them how I really feel because I'm kinda miserable. Not all the time, but, you know, it comes and goes and it's been coming and not going and this is no fucking attitude to go into my birthday with but everybody's gone out to drink. So I'm alone and bitchy and tired and I have nobody to talk to. So there you go. I really don't have anything entertaining to say either. Sorry.”

I'll be leaving for LFCC in less than an hour. Got to throw a few last things into the bag, dress, and phone the taxi that will take me to the train station, and then I'll be boarding the 4:56am. I've not had any sleep. I'm going to be relying on chocolate all day to keep me remotely active.

See you all again by Sunday evening. Have a good weekend.

making me feel foolish for being my own awesome self is not good customer service :(
Two incidents in which cashiers made me feel like an ass this week:

1) In the LCBO on Monday, my music taste was unintentionally ridiculed by two strangers. I was humming along to "Something Stupid" (the Nicole Kidman and Robbie Williams version) while standing in line, and the guy in front of me went to pay for his stuff. He shook his head at the cashier and said, "God, this music. Awful." I mean, way to shoot down my cheerful humming, dude. The cashier laughed and said, "I know, right? This whole mix CD is crappy. They put a James Bond theme on here. Who puts a James Bond theme on a mix CD?"
I sadly looked at the floor and shuffled my feet awkwardly as I went to pay, for I'd just burned a CD earlier that day that had "The World Is Not Enough" by Garbage on it. SHUT UP CASHIER, IT'S A GREAT SONG.

2) The cashier at the Second Cup pretended to reject my coupon today and I fell for it. :( Then he laughed at me. A conversation ensued. Somehow, I ended up mentioning Sherlock Holmes and he exclaimed how utterly boring he found the one story he'd listened to in an audio book. I felt awkward - it's always uncomfortable when someone says how much they dislike something you've just said you like - and said, "Oh I guess I just like Victorian gay things." And then the cashier realized I felt embarrassed and added, "But I like House." That does not heal my wounded pride, cashier. At least you tried, though.

Last.fm now has a big ugly face that is as dumb as a butt. If you recognize that quote, high five, I like using it whenever I can. Seriously, though. Last.fm is just UGLY now.

Dr. Horrible has encouraged me to pull out my HIMYM DVDs and watch various Barney-filled episodes again. This song is my favourite, btw. yay harmonies ♥

AAAAAAAA;LSKFJSHD;F DARK KNIGHT TOMORROW NIGHT. EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Big GW Rewatch: S1E4
GREEN WING SERIES ONE EPISODE FOUR REACTION POST

Halfway through this episode will put you halfway through the series--were you dead hooked by this point on your first viewing, or still slightly confused by the whole thing? Were you amazed to discover Martin's filial links to Joanna? Did you spend months quoting from that scene where Caroline confronts the boys over Guy's league table? (Yes, yes you did, didn't you.)

I suddenly have the most desperate urge to write Master/Doctor fic. But I've been out of the fandom for so long (the part where the fic is, anyway) that I don't know what's already been written. And my writing was so much better back then that anything I wrote now would just be a disappointment.

UGH. Why have I got such fandom nostalgia lately?!

And oh man I just found the epic AU I started writing, except I can't remember what was supposed to happen in it, only that John Smith and Harold Saxon were both being human at the same time and it was going to be amazing.

As a youth, John had studied copiously: astronomy, sociology, botany, classics. He had eventually settled on medieval history as his forte, because he had an unnatural love of the workings of men's minds and how they shaped time. But it was his brief stint in cognitive psychology that taught him about free-association writing. So, when he opened his drawer one day and found a hundred or so loose-leaf sheets of paper with words he had never heard, names he didn't recognise, drawings and symbols and glyphs he could not place, he was not overly concerned.

He probably should have been, but he filed away all his worries – the writing, the occasional blackouts, the dreams that woke him up in a panicked sweat or with a pounding erection or with the sense that he was missing something inside his very core – and put them down to an early onset midlife crisis.

Martha had forbidden him to throw them out. "You never know," she'd said, organising them by what colour pen he had used, and patting them down into neat stacks. "You might discover yourself. Save you having to go to Tibet to look." She had put the papers back in his drawer and placed an old watch on top to weigh them down.

BY THE WAY, how many of you will disown me if I tell you I got a trailer for The Clone Wars and I got a bit excited and will probably be going to see that? Pretty much all of you, I suspect. Mostly I am excited for ~*General Kenobi*~ and Asajj Ventress omfg. CRAZY LADY IS CRAZY. Although Dooku's character design freaks me out.

UGHHHH THERE NEEDS TO BE A FILM ABOUT WEE OBI-WAN AND QUI-GON AND XANATOS AND ALL OF THEIR COLLECTIVE ANGST.

Advice taken
I was told to go watch Wicked - Defying Gravity, specifically - on YouTube. I may have gone a bit beyond that.

Bonus! If you go to YouTube, you can find longer clips from other shows on the tour, but they weren't embeddable.

BTW, Act 2 of Dr. Horrible went up yesterday, and it pretty much takes the awesome of Act 1 and triples it. "Brand New Day" is a frickin' total win song, I lurves it. I can't wait for the conclusion tomorrow! I can't wait until the soundtrack comes out! Yippee!

Wall.E is basically the most visually beautiful film ever created, animated or otherwise.

I COULDN'T EVEN WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO GO SEE IT WITH ME. I went on my own. There were a bunch of guys there alone, but I seemed to be the only girl. Come on, female population! WHERE IS YOUR FILM GEEKERY?

also there was a beardy hipster and i eavesdropped on his phone conversation about how he had been waiting for this forever, and he couldn't wait any longer for the dark knight and i wanted him to be my boyfriend UM CURSE MY INABILITY TO TALK TO ANYONE EVER.

I've booked my hotel for the Saturday. I wasn't sure if I really was going to stay overnight after all but decided what the hell. I need this little getaway. I'm staying in Bayswater, in a two star, but it's cheap so I won't complain whatever it's like. I'm never fussed about hotel/hostel conditions too much as I just want to have somewhere off the streets for a few hours. There's a couple of tube stations nearby, and the reviews said the place is clean enough, and the price includes breakfast.

I'm going to get the 4:56am train from where I live which will have me arriving in London just before 7:00am.

It's going to be a very long, very tiring and stressful weekend but I'm looking forward to it. At least I know the ropes, since this is my third LFCC. And my gran gave me a tenner "to help" this morning because she knows I'm going away. Bless her.

UPDATE:I'm aware I probably sound pretty damn insane in this, but I think it's necessary to capture my excitement. Don't hold it against me. I was going on not much sleep and a lot of caffeine which tends to cause the occasional manic outburst (see above). I don't want to say anything specific about the movie but it was just perfect. When I was watching it I didn't know exactly how I felt because it really is an uncomfortable thing to watch at times, but seconds after the credits started so did the discussions and I couldn't stop going on about how much I loved all these different aspects. One straight thing I will say: Best. Joker. EEEEVVEEER!

UPDATE THE 2ND:
Looking at the trivia section for this on IMDB I found this little nugget: "[Ledger] was also given Alan Moore's comic 'Batman: The Killing Joke' and 'Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth' to read."  These just happen to be my two favorite Batman comics, and were the two that I brought to read while waiting in line.  What can I say?  I know good Joker.

I went to my local Co-Op this morning to buy a few things, as I do, only to learn it was robbed early this morning. Police everywhere. Scene sealed off with police tape. Three or four police cars and plain clothed officers as well.

The word on the street is that two staff members were tied up, but I don't know how true that is or if anyone was hurt or not.

I've been going in this shop since I was a baby and am quite familiar with all the senior staff there. This is the kind of thing you see on TV. You never really believe it will happen on your own doorstep until it does.

I hope whoever was involved is alright. If you're in England's south east, coverage of what happened will probably be on Meridian News at some point later today.
